CBH Wood Furniture~ The Mattress Underground (TMU) New Trusted Member

Hi Ruben,
as discussed over email, yes our mattress system is designed to be used with a 8in fitted sheet that will cover the wool topper, mattress, slats and latex supports as well. So basically everything but the frame gets wrapped in the bedsheet.

We purchased our bed from @CBHWoodFurniture a year ago. I wanted to hold off on my review to allow ample time to pass.

TLDR; we are happy customers. From the finish of the bed to communication and delivery, everything was great.

We got the king size bed made of Aspen wood with a headboard included.

Given that these beds are custom-made, you have to be patient with delivery times. We were told that it would be shipped within 3-4 weeks from the day the order was placed, and we received our shipment information after a month. It took another week or so for the shipment to arrive.

I managed to carry the entire package by myself in a couple of tries. We ordered an Aspen wood frame, and it was light to carry. The mattress was the heaviest to handle. A king size mattress is technically two twin mattresses, so it might be easier if you have some help to carry them (shouldn’t be a problem for two people).

I assembled the bed within an hour. Assembly was straightforward, and in case you get stuck, there are videos on the website to help.

Comfort-wise, it’s top-notch. I’m around 6’4" and the bed doesn’t feel short for me in any way. While we are sleeping on two twin mattresses, you don’t notice it at all. Given that the bed uses a slat system that meets in the middle section of the bed, you might get a bit of firmness if you sleep right in the center, but this is not discomforting and doesn’t affect the sleep quality. We like that the bed is elevated just enough to be comfortable but not too high, making sliding in and out super easy.

You can use any sheets you want within the king size format. We made our own sheets.

We slept comfortably throughout the Ontario winter, and summer was also pleasant. Given that the mattress topper uses 100% wool, it might get a tad too warm on some extra hot days of summer, but it was never too much of an issue for us. Also, given that it’s 100% sheep wool, there’s a distinctive smell to it. Personally, we love that smell as it adds to our overall comfort, giving you that natural feel.

Cost wise the whole bed system was also cheaper than getting a comparable alternative from a chain store. Some stores would charge you higher just for the mattress alone which is ridiculous.

Overall, we are happy with our purchase and our sleep. It’s great that we have such an amazing local product that is family owned and provides a great value and customer support.
