How to compare high end mattress materials

Nope. Once our house is finished building (or close to it), I’ll schedule the delivery date for it but until then no real place to put it.

Got it, but it must be exciting!

Yea. Right now the house stuff itself is more exciting since its ongoing and changing rapidly but it will definitely be nice when it arrives and hopefully was the right choice.

The mattress is built like a tank. I cant image what would be not to like. I forgot to ask, as reference, do they build it to American specs or British. As there are differences in each category of size

You can do it either way but I chose to have it built to the american “Wyoming King” size as I figure itll be easier to find sheets than a large emperor or whatever the british equivalent is called.

Yeah, I remember that was an issue, needing the Wyoming. Well, good luck on the house and when you get the mattress.

An update for anyone following. Unfortunately it didn’t end up working out for us and we’re returning the mattress.

Was this the Winston’s it has been a while and I forgot what you got. I had high hopes for Winston as they look really good.

Yea the Winstons. The mattress is clearly well made but it just ended up being firmer (and got firmer during break in) than we were looking for. Also it’s a zip and link and the seam felt like we were on 2 separate beds which really isnt something we were happy about having for a long time. We just purchased and received a replacement CozyPure latex mattress which is decently firm right now (we got the soft) but I suspect just needs some break in time (we laid on the same mattress in the store for quite a while and it was working well)

I have the cozypure pillow, the Baa-Noodle, it was not firm enough for me as stuffed, but I bought extra noodles and added them to the pillow and it is really very nice. I would bet that cozypure noodle topper is just as nice as the pillow.

Well, best of luck with the cozypure mattress, keep us updated.

I actually was just thinking about it so went and made some adjustments to the mattress:

  1. It was a pretty big pain between my wife and I getting the mattress inside and to the bed so it moved around a lot. I just went and unzipped the cover and fluffed and neatly positioned all the layers.
  2. I then used the step on and knee technique on the top layer and the layer below it to try to break it in a little faster. I tried laying on the raw latex without the cover and it felt quite soft actually
  3. I then zipped up the mattress and put on our noodle topper and laid on it and it was again quite soft.
  4. I put on our mattress cover/protector (which we got to theoretically soften the feel of the individual noodles in the topper). After putting the protector on, the mattress felt a good bit firmer. I think the protector’s tension might have been fighting against the softness of the mattress and the noodle topper layer. I removed the protector and put our sheep directly overtop the noddle topper and it now feels only slightly firmer than it did in the store (to the point that normal break in seems reasonable to get it to that point).
Fingers crossed these adjustments will help but after these it does feel massively softer so I imagine tonight should be different at the bare minimum.

Perhaps you can get a stretch mattress cover/protector. Oh and you have the noodle topper. If it is anything like the pillow, is should be nice and plush to lie on, on, unless they pack it tight sew the sections very tight, much like when I added the extra noodles to the topper.

Yea the noodle topper definitely seems nice. I was just originally looking for something to smooth it out a little because its a tad bumpy. But yea like you mentioned perhaps I should look at a stretch cover (or perhaps even the cover that cozypure themselves sell if all else fails).

We sell many latex mattresses; here are a couple of options for a stretchy cover:

Obasan Organic Cotton Mattress Protector

Suite Sleep Organic Cotton Knit Mattress Protector

Of the two, the Suite Sleep is softer.

I hope this helps!
