Any recommendations for a king size, soft/plush, double sided inner spring bib? I can’t do this any more

Hi all,

I’m hoping to get some recommendations for a king size, double sided, inner spring mattress. I’m 6’1, 205lbs and a side sleeper.

I’ve gone through several $1500+ mattresses that lasted less than a year. The last one only lasted a few months before it started sagging. From recommendations here, I decided to try the DIY route and I then worked with Ken at Arizona Mattress Factory to build out a talalay bed, tried various layers, etc… which unfortunately didn’t work for me and shipping that back was a beast. Like most here, I’m just done… but I need a new mattress. I bought my daughter a twin size bib which I like, I just don’t know how well it would stand up with someone my size sleeping on it regularly. Unfortunately, Wayfair does not sell that mattress any longer (sigh). So I’m hoping to find a “decent” bib that will last a few years. Unfortunately, I live in the sticks and the closest Original mattress factory or just about any mattress store is close 160 miles away so I can’t go in again and try out mattresses in person.

Brooklyn bedding had a double sided plush the last time I looked, but they do not currently sell one. So I thought I would ask here and see if anyone had any recommendations. Hoping to snag one on black Friday sale as I know I’ll end up replacing it in a couple of years (hopefully it will last that long).

Are there any that are made with a higher spring count / higher density foam if used?

Thanks in advance!

The only Brooklyn Bedding that is double sided these days is the Plank and Plank Luxe. I own the plank luxe for 2 years now. Great mattress, super comfortable for me as I like a firm mattress, 6’ 220 (250+ when I bought it). My wife is 5’4 135 and loves the firmer side of the mattress just as much as I do. We are both 80% side sleepers, but coincidentally we both start on our back, then roll to the side. Occasionally, I will end up on my stomach in the morning whereas my wife is still on her side.

At over 200lbs, I recommend rotating any mattress you choose and be certain you have a frame that supports your mattress.

Sorry that the APM did not work out for you as it is an excellent mattress.

If you like a traditional non latex double sided BiB mattress you may want to consider the @DLX classic hybrid. Folks as large as 300lbs have written on Reddit they have slept comfortable on this mattress.

Thanks for the reply.

I had high hopes for the latex DIY mattress, but it turned out, I’m just not suited for latex it seems.

I always rotate and if the mattress permits, flip the mattress. I guess that’s part of the reason I’m looking for a double sided. And I figured I’d get a little more longevity out of a double sided.

Someone else recommended the DLX classic and I’m considering it, but to be honest, paying that price for a bib that I won’t have the opportunity to try first, is a bit discouraging. I’ve spent over 6k on mattresses in the past 3 years and it’s just something I can’t do any more. That’s why I figured a cheaper bib and replace it every couple of years would be better. Even with the $100 off from MU, it’s still a $1200 bib before taxes. I even looked into their guarantee and that required that the mattress be donated to a charity, which you can’t do here in NC; I tried with past mattresses that didn’t live up to expectations comfort wise.

It’s been so long since I had a good nights sleep, I honestly don’t know what I need or would work best for me at this point. It’s so frustrating.
