APM Eco bolsa for side sleepers with a goose down mattress protector?

Been reading so much, love this place and huge shout out to @Arizona_Premium who has pointed me to the Eco bolsa hybrid. Still working out which ILD for the comfort layer but currently thinking about going this route for my wife (5โ€™ 6" 122lb bmi 19.7) and me (5โ€™ 9" 155lb bmi 22.9) who are both primarily side sleepers.

APM King Eco Sleep Hybrid with bolsa upgrade and either 19 or 28 ILD (leaning towards 19 ILD).

We are returning a Saatva Latex Hybrid (too firm) Some insights on that post on what we tried in the past. It could be because we were in our 30s then but the only mattress my wife actually liked was a Sealy Reflexion Latex - Newport Beach mattress we bought from 2004. It was a solid piece and the tag showed 93% latex 4% foam and 3% foam core. We are now in our early 50s.

I have yet to find a mattress my wife loves, but a few years back we slept in a hotel bed we both loved, it was a king bed at Sonesta Nashville Airport hotel (used to be a Marriott) and I am 90% sure it had a featherbed topper.

So here is what I am thinking and looking for some feedback. Would it be crazy to add a featherbed on top of the APM Eco bolsa? I was thinking of skipping the normal cotton or wool mattress protector and instead looking for a featherbed protector instead that would fit under our fitted sheet (do they even make this?) to get that โ€œfeelโ€ she might be looking for without ruining the support and pressure relief that this eco bolsa seems to have solved for side sleepers that are on the lighter side.

Curious what you all think or if I am just making things worse here?

I think that you might be talking about a goose-down mattress topper. I know of a couple of companies that make those - Ogallala Comfort is one and Naturepedic just came out with a more affordable featherbed topper.

You are correct - you would put the fitted sheet on top of a featherbed to hold it in place. If you wanted to offer extra protection to the mattress and to your topper, you could get a fitted mattress protector and then layer your fitted sheet on top of it.

A featherbed is not only comfortable - but contributes to mattress longevity as well.
