Back Looking for a Mattress After 10 Years and the Market has Changed- Confused

Ten years ago I bought a Serta iSeries Firm at Mattress Firm and have been happy with it. It’s starting to sag and I need to replace it. I tried the current Serta iSeries and it feels nothing like the mattress I am replacing. The salesman said Serta changed the mattress substantially.

I’ve tried many other mattresses and the ones I like are an Aireloom at Mattress Wearhouse, a mattress made by Paramount at Bloomingdales and a TempurLux Breeze mattress at Mattress Firm. They are all a lot more money than the mattress I am replacing which I still find comfortable except for the sagging.

I am not comfortable purchasing a mattress I haven’t tried. I tried Saatva and did not like any of them.

I don’t want to make an expensive mistake and would appreciate reactions and guidance.

With mattresses, you get what you pay for. Read the shopping guides on here to get a lot of that confusion sorted out. It helped me quite a bit. Once you’re armed with that, you can sort through the hype and market created terms to determine the technical details that matter. It will also help you decide what price range makes the most sense for you.

The basic issue that you run into is that you end up paying about the same in the long run for mattresses. Cheaper ones just don’t last so you’ll replace them much more often. The heavier you are, the better off you’ll be going with the more expensive ones that are truly well made.

And that “well made” bit is the gotcha. You’re not going to know what to look for without taking the time to educate yourself. So read the free guides on here to get that education.

Where do you live?
