Hi is it possible to build a latex mattress using 2 x 6" cores. Bottom medium and top core soft? Or will it be too firm to sleep on?
Is it best to build using a med core and 2x 3 in soft topers?
Just want know if 6" in core is same as 2x 3" toppers.
https://latexmattressfactory.com/products/latex-cores?variant=17632517569
Side sleeper. Weight 220lbs. Height 5’8"
so i went with the following configuration using toppers and a cover; total 11"
2x3" soft
3" med
2" firm
any feedback will be great. i am afraid using 6" soft i will sink; but i am tired of feeling my current hard mattress and i need comfort. do you think 5" of med and firm will be sufficient support?
thanks in advance
Hello Esaade
Thank you for your inquiry, and congratulations on your new mattress purchase!
I would agree that choosing layers as opposed to the two 6" cores maybe a better option. This gives you versatility with your layer configuration options. However, the two 3" layers of soft maybe too soft someone over 200lbs. With 6" of soft, you may experience some back stiffness over time due to lack of support. If this happens, I would recommend rearranging your layers, one change at a time, to create a more supportive feel. For example: If the Soft over Soft is not supportive enough, I would first try moving the medium layer up between the two softs, so that your configuration is Soft over Medium over Soft over Firm. The closer your firmer layers are to your body, the more supportive your sleep surface will be.
Does the company you purchased your layers from offer any type of layer exchange policy? If the 6" of soft is not quite supportive enough regardless of your configuration, you may need to exchange one of your soft layers for one that is firmer.
Please let us know how it goes with your new mattress. And thank you for all of your feedback!
