Hi, I am in the Dallas Ft. Worth area and am considering having the mattress factory in Ft. Worth make a mattress for me. However, I really like the Shifman mattress I found at Macys.
Does anyone know if the mattress factory could make the identical Shifman bed for me? I guess I’m asking if they would possibly have the “recipe” or “blueprint directions” for the Shifman bed without the super high price.

So you want to replicate one of my favorite mattress brands, Shifman, made right here in NJ.
Lets talk about that!
Your question makes perfect sense. There are some considerations.
Mattress Factory in Ft. Worth: The Mattress Factory, like many custom mattress makers, can often create custom mattresses based on your specifications. However, they may not have access to proprietary designs or materials used by other manufacturers like Shifman.
Shifman Mattresses: Shifman is known for its luxury mattresses, often featuring specific construction methods and high-quality materials. Their mattresses are designed with unique layers and craftsmanship that might be proprietary.
Replicating a Shifman Mattress: While The Mattress Factory might be able to make a high-quality mattress to your specifications, they likely wouldn’t have the exact “recipe” or proprietary construction methods of a Shifman mattress. They might be able to use similar materials and construction techniques, but it won’t be an exact replica.
Custom mattresses can sometimes be less expensive than high-end branded options, especially if you can provide detailed specifications or a model you like. You could discuss this with The Mattress Factory, and what elements you like about the Shifman mattress and see if they can create something comparable within your budget.
I’d recommend visiting The Mattress Factory for a consultation. Share what you like about the Shifman mattress, and they can offer advice on how they might be able to create a similar mattress for you. They might also have some high-quality alternatives that fit your preferences.
Keep in mind the Shifman mattress created specifically for Macy’s is not exactly the same design they produce for their independent retailers. When you read the builds on Macy’s you will notice that they utilize a perimeter foam encased edge support, that they do not use on their independent models you see on their web-site. There are some characteristics of this type of edge support that should be considered before diving in. Shifman makes one of the best mattress’s on the market. Depending on which Shifman model (remember they are made specifically for Macy’s shown here) Then read the specifications on the Macy’s website, shown here about the 8th bullet point down.
What I have found, particularly here in New Jersey, Shifman’s back yard, is that the independents sell the original designed versions, for a bit less than the prices suggested on the Shifman website. It may be worth investigating what they consider the equivalent mattress, and ordering one from an independent dealer, such as Brielle Furniture in New Jersey (I am familiar with them as I pass their showroom every day on my way to work).
Another option, depending on which mattress and the price of the Macy’s version, is Millbrook, the Hampshire 3 is a reasonable priced luxury mattress with similar qualities to the Shifman. The Shifman is truly a specially made mattress, so you instincts are right on target.
You may give another Trusted Member, @Magic_Sleeper Magic Sleeper a call as they do an excellent job mimicking popular mattresses. I am not certain they have attempted a Shifman. If not, the cost to produce one mattress may be the same issue you will fine with Mattress Factory.
