Foundation/Triton Foundation

Hi all,
I posted this in another section but I think I may have put it in the wrong thread. Anyway, I’m trying to figure out if I can use this box spring with a 9" latex mattress. It is the Triton Foundation by Simmons and came with my Westin Bed ten years ago. It seems to be made from wires and wooden outer frame beneath a sturdy fabric. Here is a link to the box spring:

It is a split king (two halves).

The other related question is about the bed header being higher than the new mattress. We have an heirloom sleigh bed that we intend to keep indefinitely. Our box spring and mattress are currently a good fit. The box spring is 9" high and the mattress is 10". If we get a 9" latex mattress and replace the box spring with a lower foundation, what do you do about the gap between the top of the mattress and the bottom of the headboard?
Thanks in advance. Awesome information provided here.

Hello and thanks for reaching out! That foundation should normally be changed after 8 years, so it may be time for a replacement foundation. I don’t see there being any problem with having a mattress that’s at a different height than the headboard, it shouldn’t affect the feel or longevity of the mattress at all. It’s really a matter of preference and looks at that point. But please note that we do sell an 8" high profile foundation that may solve that problem for you.
