Weighing 100-103kg across the day, I am afraid that if I use latex as the comfort layer, it would add too much weight to the mattress and the bedframe might collapse lol
Same goes for memory foam, is polyurethane foam a suitable replacement? Currently on my diy journey
I read on this forum that polyfoam even when certipur certified release voc and is worse to health than latex but a full latex+ spring mattress would mean the mattress + me is too heavy for my bedframe
I am in such a dilemma, any suggestion?
Hey bromine93.
Thanks for your question and for asking it here in our Mattress Forum.
Definitely check out the max weight of your bedframe. You’d be surprised how much weight some of these frames can maintain!
From our Durability Guidelines for BMIs over 30: “Polyurethane foam: If your mattress is one-sided then I would look for 2.0 lb per cubic foot density or higher. If the mattress is two-sided then I would use a minimum foam density of 1.8 lbs per cubic foot or higher.”
Are you thinking about doing a full poly-foam set up? Or a hybrid of foams?
Obviously poly-foam is going to have a different feel from memory or latex foams (they all differ from each other in feel) but if you’re satisfied with how it supports your body, there’s no reason not to use if if you want to.

Planning to do full poly+springs, weight is around 100-103kg, mattress should support up till 150kg
I could also do mixture of foam but I don’t know if I want to risk it
