Hi Minette123, and welcome to The Mattress Underground
My husband and I were testing out some mattresses in store the other day and fell in love with the Tempur-pedic ProAdapt Teal (Medium). I side sleep and need pressure relief on my hip bone. He sleeps on back, stomach and side. We are currently on twin Endyās beside each other, but are giving these to our kids and looking for a king. What we loved was not only the foam mattress and pressure relief, but the ability to not feel the weight transfer of each other. I didnāt like the feel of any coil mattress since we are used to the foam.
Any mattress you and your husband choose will be unique to you, based on your Stats (height, BMI, sleeping position(s)) and your PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences). You might want to read the [Mattress Shopping Tutorial] as well as the [Mattress Specifications You Need To Know] and the [Mattress Durability Guidelines] to get a better idea of materials, components and what type of bed you would both enjoy.
Now Iām wondering is this mattress really worth it or are you paying for a name brand? We are in Canada and have not tried out many other brands or possibly latex options. Is Tempur-pedic really where its at? Iāve tried researching and reading through here, but Iām just lost now. Bonus for anything more environmental/natural
Tempurpedic, like many of the major retailers and bed-in-a-box brands, are not transparent in the materials and densities they use in their components, which makes it difficult to ascertain how it will hold up for any given sleeper. Being a large retail manufacturer, they have a lot more āvoiceā in advertising and marketing, which does not necessarily mean a better product. As far as whether its āworth itāā¦thatās up to the consumer. A better question is does it fit your (nice)
Memory foam is enjoyed by many consumers, and as you like the lack of motion transfer, memory foam is ideal for this; Latex has a very different feel to memory foam which some consumers swear by and others avoid. You and your husband, if possible, should test a few types of beds both latex and foam in person at local showrooms to see which feels more comfortable; this may help āshortenā your list of possible mattresses down to manageable amount. For foam and if you have a normal BMI range (between 20 and 29) I would make sure any foam in a potential mattress has no more than an inch or so of lower grade foams (for memory foam no lower than 4 lbs/cuft for normal range weights) and if polyfoam is used, with at least 1.8 lbs/cuft density, just to ensure you have support.
Several of the Trusted Members of the site are located in Canada, like MFC who carry both memory foam and latex mattresses; for latex there is also CBH Wood, and also GhostBed Canada if you still want the feel of memory foam ā but you should ask about the foam density as some models are made to partner specifications (and are available in Canada at some Costco and Lowesās locations). If you can provide both of your Stats and PPP, and your mattress history, they can help you to find a mattress that best works for you both.
