Latex Mattress in AB, Canada

Hello All,

Many years ago (15 or so) , I was able to walk into a local store and buy several memory foam mattresses. It was all just a spec 3or 5lb on top (cant recall), and 2lb on the bottom. These have lasted my family many, many years. It was all spec, no brand that I can recall.

We are currently looking to upgrade to a latex bed in Canada just for size (King). I was shocked, by how everything has almost become 100% marketing. Ive been doing research for weeks and I came to the conclusion I want a latex mattress because my SO sleeps quite hot, the long term durability, and the ability to lay on top, rather than “in” (albeit I am used to this). I also want a no coil mattress due to motion transfer.

The only place I was able to find an all Latex mattress in Canada, that had ANY Sort of return policy was Costco an Essentia Grateful 8

I recognize Naturelle and MFC Canada are also options, but man they both appear to have like zero return policy, and their options to exchange layers seems costly. This is our 1st latex mattress, so I just simply need to be able to send it back in case we cant adjust to it after sleeping on memory foam for so long.

My big concern is, How durable this Essentia mattress may be. They claim it is all dunlop construction, but for a King 8" it is coming in close to 120lbs. Im not sure how much weight is an indicator of quality, but most of the other aforementioned companies I believe come in around 155-175 lbs for a King bed. I may be obsessing over nothing, but I want to make sure I am setup hopefully for as long as I was before.

Am I buying an expensive mattress that will give up before these other companies? to be honestly I would prefer to buy the Lavender Mattress from Naturelle if there was a return policy, but I cant really risk that much $ with close to no guarantee.

if anyone has alternative suggestions for Canada, id love to hear them.

Sleeper Data : 220, and 150 lbs . Both prefer on the firmer side about a 7-7.5 /10, but cant be a rock for side sleeping, I do like cushion as long as there is support . both, Side and stomach sleepers, some back, but not much.

You could try looking at the Obasan Auberge. It is a high-quality product. We sell their products, but in the States, so you would want to contact them directly in Canada. I suggest calling or emailing them directly - they are a family owned company and will help you personally. Good luck!

Thanks, thats a bit out of my range unfortunately. Im trying to stay around 2600CAD-3000CAD Max.

Honestly, I started at like 1K for big box stores, then researching the rather poor quality nowadays led to think I should invest in a better choice for a similar long term experience I got with my memory foam mattress.

I Mayyyy have to choose to go back to memory foam options however.

Good morning Cybersyrf,

Many organic latex manufacturers do not accept returns for this reason:

MFC is dedicated to manufacturing quality latex products through our use of quality materials and detailed craftsmanship. At MFC we do not sell used products (which includes all items on our website). For this reason, for hygienic concerns, and to avoid cross contamination, we feel that we have a moral and ethical responsibility to our customers to not re-sell used items and therefore are unable to accept returns.

Make it right layer exchange program: 1- The 120 day “Make It Right” applies only to our Presto Customizable Organic Latex Mattress the 2" layers of the “New” Unison and our Hybrid Latex mattress.

You may exchange a maximum of 2 layers in total within the 120-day period.

Loyalty Program The Make it Right Layer Exchange program also includes a lifetime 25% discount on a limited number of layers should your needs change.

With such a policy in place we are able to guarantee the item you receive is brand new and has never been used by anyone else.

For a small fee of $100 or less, you can easily switch out a layer and discover the perfect comfort for your sleep. This is a much simpler and more convenient solution than dealing with a hefty return and the hassle of buying a new mattress.

If you absolutely need a return policy, our partners at Nature’s Embrace offer one under certain conditions.

As for Naturelle, I invite you to read up on them on TMU

I hope this helps you in your search for the perfect latex mattress for your needs and please keep us posted on what you decide to do.

All the best

Mario~

Welp, I was on YouTube looking at other latex reviews and without searching this awful video came up from Naturelle needless to say , I will be forced to scratch that option. Even if a customer is rude and belligerent , you shouldn’t talk to them like that ever . Nor should they “get nothing” simply because they wrote a bad review.

I also looked into that other thread , thanks for that info also .

@MFC given these details :slight_smile:

Sleeper 1: 220Lb BMI 30 sleeper 2 : 156 BMI 23 , both side and stomach sleepers probably preferring a medium-firm (7/10 ish). What layer pattern might you suggest in the presto ? I want to give it serious consideration , but given the inability to ever return want to make sure i get as much info up front as possible .

If I split the king, and left the firmness the exact same , it would allow individual customization in the future is that correct ? But I am concerned about feeling a “seam” or a dip by doing this in the middle .

Also how much do these weigh in a king ? I’m not sure I was able to find that info on the site and I want to ensure we have good support on our new bed frame .

As an added feature, we now offer 3 setups for the Organic Presto mattress. Each setup will give you 9 different firmness options. This will allow you to fine tune your support and pressure relief to a high degree of precision.

This should guide you to make the right choice.

If I split the king, and left the firmness the exact same , it would allow individual customization in the future is that correct ? yes, correct
But I am concerned about feeling a “seam” or a dip by doing this in the middle . Yes, you may feel the seam but that can be mitigated by getting the top layer in a soft KING size instead of 2 x TWIN XL layers

Also how much do these weigh in a king ? approx. 180 lbs I’m not sure I was able to find that info on the site and I want to ensure we have good support on our new bed frame .

Here’s a guide on how to choose the proper bed frame for your organic dunlop latex mattress

Did I answer all your questions?

Please let me know if you need any further information.

All the Best!
