I have a chest bed with a flat plywood surface and I want to buy a latex mattress. I was told that if I get 1"x4" planks and put them on top of the chest bed it would provide enough breathing room for the latex. Is this true? Is this recommended? Is there more I need to know?
Please keep in mind that a latex mattress is a naturally breathable, open celled product and a slatted foundation is not necessary for the mattress to sleep cool. A slatted foundation will enhance the breathability but certainly isn’t necessary. If you already have a platform foundation, feel free to use it with your new latex mattress.
