Latex mattress seam split

Hi, we bought a latex mattress 2 years ago. It has a firm 6 inch foundation and 3 inch soft top layer. The top layer recently started feeling too soft so we wanted to rotate the layers and put the firm on top. Unfortunately, when we made the switch we realized the base layer had ripped open along the seam. The seam is right where I sleep so it’s pretty uncomfortable. I sink down into the gap. Is there some kind of special glue that is available for me to buy? I’m wondering if it’s even possible to make that gap unnoticeable if it’s on the top layer. I’ve also been considering buying a medium 3 inch top layer, but I think it would still be a good idea to get that seam fixed first. I’m open to any ideas! Thank you!

Hello Rebecca

Thank you for your inquiry.

There are all-purpose fabric glues that you can purchase at Michael’s arts and crafts or at Walmart in the arts and crafts section. They come in a can, and are ideal for all types of foams and fabrics. Michael’s used to carry a water-based glue in a bottle, however I am not certain they offer it any longer. However, both places do carry a non-water based fabric glue that will work fine for seaming your layers.
If you prefer to purchase a new soft comfort layer to place on top of your 6" cores, here are a couple of companies that offer latex layers at factory prices:
