Latex Mattress struggles in Hawaii

Aloha all,

First-time poster here. I posted this below in ask the experts but maybe this sub forum is better.

I am looking to get a new mattress; my current queen-size mattress is a Sealy, 10 years old, and mediocre at best. Recently, while visiting friends in Portland, me and my wife slept on their latex mattress and we both have never had such a comfortable and rejuvenating sleep. We have decided that latex is the route we want to go. Our friends told us their mattress was made locally in Portland and is a 14-inch medium-firm with a soft 2 inch topper. I asked what type of latex, and they had no idea.

Now that we have decided and after scouring this forum and seeing the excellent posts from @phoenix about Hawaii’s limited options. I have decided to bite the bullet and pay the high shipping cost to get one of these mattresses to Hawaii. I am 6 1 195-200 and a side/back sleeper. My wife is 5 9 and 130 and mostly a side sleeper. SleeponLatex does use Amazon to ship, which would save us a ton of money, but I am weary of not being able to switch individual layers to customize my mattress should I want to. Or should I order SOL to try it in the firm and get an additional topper? I worry that I don’t like it and that the return process will be problematic. Are there any other suggestions, or maybe one of the legendary trusted members can chime in on the shipping process and cost to Hawaii and how to hone on the best configuration of layers? Mahalo for all your help!

Aloha sleepycam,

Just a quick search revealed this in hawaii. Diamond make excellent mattresses and I briefly tested almost every one at the recent trade show back in july. Since I am not a big gimmickry person, not that it is all smoke and mirrors, I just have a hard time placing a lot of favor to gels and grids.

To that extent, I found what is the equivalent to their ethos natural line extremely comfortable and most appealing despite all the other more technologically advanced mattresses they offer. Although the prices for the Ethos Natural are considerably less than their Technogel and Auto Pilot models, their simple natural based Ethos seemed to be most appealing and comfortable, they also make one called the Sage Organic, another latex based mattress. I am not quite sure that this store in Hawaii offers it, but you might inquire about it.
This is the Sage from the Diamond website.

Hope this helps,

Maverick
