Latex mattress

Thanks for your recommendations. In doing some research and trying out beds we have now changed from inner spring to a latex. We were able to try out a savvy serenity latex mattress which we found to be comfortable but on the expensive side. It appears as the organic Dunlop and natural talalay come from quality sources. We are also looking at foam sweet foam in California. They seem to have a good product at a lesser cost but I am not sure if the quality is the same as savvy rest. What are your thoughts on these two companies? We are looking at the 10" with the bottom layer firm Dunlop, middle layer medium Dunlop, and top layer medium talalay. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated and we will continue to research and be an educated consumer.

Hi jmrandwgm,

Both companies use organic Dunlop and 100% natural Talalay and although they come from different manufacturers, the quality of the latex in both would be the same.

They also both use cotton covers quilted with wool but there may be some differences between them in terms of the thickness or feel of the cotton fabric and the amount of wool they use. Both use wool as the fire barrier.

In other words … they are very closely comparable in terms of design and quality.

I think highly of Scott at FSF and have talked with him on many occasions. A forum search on Foam Sweet Foam (you can just click this) will bring up more information and feedback about them although it will also include some results that include “foam” and “sweet” that aren’t about FSF. Searching foamsweetfoam will bring up a smaller list of results (that may miss some) and a search on FSF will bring up some results that were missed from the first two searches. (NOTE: They are now a member of this site).

You also have other similar options available from from the list of members here that sell online that are linked in the tutorial post (which hopefully you’ve had the chance to read) that would also be very closely comparable in terms of design and materials.

A forum search on Savvy Rest will bring up more comments and feedback about them as well but the “essence” of them is that they are high quality materials and would certainly be a better choice than most mainstream mattresses but they are also in a higher price range than other very similar mattresses that are available to the members here.
