latex topper advice for smaller folks

Hi,
I have a firm foam mattress from ikea. It’s great, and although I usually like firm support for my back, lately we’ve been finding the mattress is too firm for comfortable sleeping. We’re both usually back sleepers, occasional side sleepers. Looking to soften up the bed but also keep back support in mind.

I’m looking at latex toppers, and debating between 2" and 3", and between soft/med. I’m 5’6, 135lbs, she’s same height, maybe 150 lbs. Any recommendations? Also, if it makes a difference, I’m located in canada (vancouver).
Thanks!
jason

Please keep the following in mind when choosing a thickness for your topper: The 2" topper will make a noticeable difference but, depending on how much you want to change the feel of your mattress, may still leave something to be desired. The 3" topper will change the feel of your mattress the most and may offer the best chance to get the results you are expecting.

Ultimately, how you make your decision will depend on the following: how firm your mattress is now; how much softer you want your mattress to be; your height, body weight, and sleeping preference. Based on your height & weight I’d definitely recommend a soft topper in either 2" or 3", but I really couldn’t say in advance which thickness is the better value or better choice for you. Please note that we have a shipping surcharge of $149 per box shipping to Canada. I hope this information helps, but if I can help further please let me know!

I purchased a 1" soft Latex (20ILD) topper from FBM for my half of a King (39" x 80"), and it’s quite soft and cushy. For me, 2" of it would be too much cush. Plus, a 2" topper would create a huge difference in height between the two halves. 1" isn’t that bad.

It doesn’t come with a cover. But, you can just let it lay on your mattress, under your sheets (and mattress protector, if you use one.)

BTW, if you have a King, you don’t want a 39x75 for your half. That’s only twin-size. You want 39x80, which is Twin XL. A King is the same as two Twin XL’s.
