Layer adjustment recommendations

So I made a post on here in February about building my one Latex bed. I got a lot of great answers from SleepEz and I’m back for more!

So I got all my layers in to recap for anyone that hasn’t seen my other thread I went with:

2" LUX HQ
2" LUX HQ
2" HD36
2" HD36
2" Medium Dunlop
3" Soft Talallay.
Wrapped in Zipper Bamboo Mattress cover.

So original 2 night testing the bottom layers felt to stiff. So as a test I removed the 2 lux layers and left the rest.

We have been sleeping on it like this as it feels great but would like to tinker with it some more to see if I can get the thickness back to 13" and still maintain this feel or get a better feel.

So can anyone recommend a diffrent co figuration than the one I originally tried? Thanks!

Hello TWoods

Thank you for the update! I am happy to hear that you have been sleeping comfortably on your most recent configuration!

If you are wanting that 4" of height back from removing your two LUX layers, then I would recommend creating a more gradual support system. For example; If your 4" of LUX foam produced support that was much too firm, then maybe try incorporating a 2" medium Talalay latex layer (30ILD to 33ILD) into the 5th level while placing one of your 2" LUX layers back on the bottom. This will create a more gradual support system at the bottom rather than much too firm. It would look like this:

3" Soft Talalay
2" Medium Dunlop
2" HD36
2" HD36
2" Medium Talalay
2" LUX HQ

or

3" Soft Talalay
2" Medium Dunlop
2" HD36
2" Medium Talalay
2" HD36
2" LUX HQ

As you can see, the great thing about having that 2" Medium Talalay layer is that you can place it at any level in your mattress to try different comfort levels. This will give you many more configuration options to try.

Thanks again for all of your feedback! Please let us know what you decide to do. Good luck!
