Looking for a cheaper alternative to the Magniflex Magnistretch

I’ve owned a Magniflex Magnistretch for 7 years and I’ve loved it. Its suddenly getting old though, and I’m feeling a significant dip where I sleep. I’d buy another one but the cost is too much. I’m wondering if I could replace it with something similar. The stretch part I don’t need. I’d like it to feel like the Magniflex though. I have the 12. Any mattresses that you think I should consider? Thanks!

All-foam mattresses, especially those that aren’t latex, can be a bit unpredictable over the long term. However, there are some great options available in a more budget-friendly range that might fit your price point.

One option to consider is the @BackScience Back Science Series 1. It offers a firmer feel, and like any new mattress, there may be an adjustment period. Generally, higher-quality mattresses tend to provide years of comfort once you get past the initial phase.

You might also want to check out the Nolah Original and Bear Original. Both fall into the medium to medium-firm category and have straightforward buying and return policies if you need them. While you may never find a clone of the Magniflex Mangistretch, it could be a blessing in a manner of speaking.

While it’s possible to get a new Magniflex Magnistretch delivered to your home tomorrow, it’s important to remember that it might not feel exactly as you remember from your first purchase. Don’t be discouraged if it’s slightly out of budget this time; comfort doesn’t always correlate with price, and the manufacturer may have changed their formulations over the years.

Finding the right mattress can be a bit of a challenge, but at least you now have a few options to consider!

Best wishes,

Maverick.

Magniflex makes a good quality mattress. However, it is important to note that the Magniflex Magnistretch, does not directly improve spinal alignment but rather helps with spinal decompression by relieving pressure on the vertebrae and unloading forces. It’s more about creating space between the discs than about maintaining alignment. The Back Science Mattress is something I created after many years of seeing patients who suffered from back issues due to poor mattress support. The Back Science mattress offers more structured lumbar support through its double zoned patent pending Lumbar-Flex interlocking support which is intended to maintain the spine’s alignment and preventing the lower back from sinking too deeply, which can lead discomfort and potential back problems over time.

Either way, you will never know how a mattress will perform until you sleep on it. A recent Trust Pilot 3rd party survey showed that 97% of Back Science users experienced an improvement with their back pain, but with Back Science there is also a full 365-night trial that allows for free customizations if needed to first try and solve the issue before returning or exchanging the mattress. That is part of Back Science’s success, though the majority of Back Science users love the way the mattress performs without any modifications. If modifications are needed, it is a simple exchange of comfort and/or zone layering via UPS that can insert into our proprietary GripLock modular cover system.

The Back Science Series 1 should save you money over the cost of a Magniflex, but if you have any questions, you can reach me back at this forum or give my office a call at 800 667-1969 and feel free to visit the www.BackScience.com site if you want to learn more about it and if you want to place an order. I forgot to add that Maverick’s recommendation of Nolah and Bear are great alternatives to the higher price point of Magnistretch and the mid-tier price point of Back Science. We have had great success with customers both of those two brands at our Flagship mattress store in in Southern California (www.Ultrabed.com) and while we were one of the early dealers selling those two bed-in-the-box brands, you can find them in many stores now throughout the U.S.

Thank you! This is very helpful. The poster below also recommended the Back Science mattress. I’m looking into it. The other two look great but the price isn’t different from the Magniflex. Thank you for introducing me to these brands, I had not heard of them.

Thanks! I checked out the ultrabed website. The Back Science mattress does look like what I’m looking for. The cross section picture looks similar to the Magniflex Magnistretch. I’m wondering about the different levels. The level 1 is “firm”. I don’t think my Magniflex is firm (but maybe it is/was). I didn’t mention this before, but I actually have two other Magniflex mattresses in my house. My son has a Magnistretch 12 and my daughter has a Magnistretch 14. I bought the kids beds at a Bed Planet clearance sale. The 14 is too plush for me, and the 12 (one year old) I like better, but it feels more firm than my 12 every was. Maybe I’m remembering wrong. In your opinon is the Back Science Series 1 the same firmness as the Magnistretch 12?

It has been a bit since I tested the Magniflex Stretch, but to my recollection it is softer than the 11 inch thick Back Science Series 1 mattress, so if you want to stay within a certain budget and stick with one of our popular Hybrid models, we can pre-customize Series 1 to be softer to accommodate what you are looking for in order for your to avoid the higher cost of the Series 2. While it won’t be quite as luxurious as the Series 2 with the softer version, I think it will definitely give you what you are looking for.
