Memory foam mattress not reshaping

Hi, I just bought a new bed, 200x180cm and a memory foam mattress to go with it. The movers unpacked the mattress and it immediately expanded past the frame. They said that it would rise further and get narrower to fit the frame. After 30 hours it is still too big. They said to give it 72 hours, but i haven’t seen any change. Is this normal?

Hi Sgran,

A memory foam mattress will normally fully decompress and reach it’s full size within about 48 hours (usually less than this) but if it hasn’t after 72 hours then there could be an issue with the mattress.

200 x 180 cm is the equivalent of 78.7 x 70.9 which isn’t a standard size in North America (although you may be from another country where this would be a more standard size … see here). A standard king size in North America for example would be 76" x 80" which would be bigger than your bedframe but a “super king” in the UK would fit your bedframe.

What size is your mattress (or at least what size is it “supposed” to be) ?

Perhaps I wasn’t clear: the mattress is supposed to be 200x180 cm. I live in Hungary and the mattress is from Italy. I bought the bed and mattress together, so this really shouldn’t happen. Thank you for your response.

Well what do you know, it shrunk to fit. I guess props are due to Ceriflex for their Magic Anatomico memory mattress. I am looking forward to trying it out. I haven’t slept on a good bed in years.

Hi Sgran,

Thanks for letting us know … that’s good news
