Need advice on Latex mattress

Hi. New guy here. Is Latex mattress any good for heavy people? I figure me and my wife would be close to 650lb together. Would Latex support that much weight? Thank you.

Hello Ben

Welcome, and thank you for your inquiry. Latex will work for anyone at any weight as long as you have the right amount of it in your mattress, and as long as you have the correct densities that provides both you and your wife with plenty of support. If you like, I can recommend a mattress model, as well as a layer configuration for both you and your wife. I would simply need to know the following:

  • How much do each of you weigh?
*How tall are each of you?
*What are your preferred sleeping positions (side, stomach or back)

Using this basic information I can recommend a model and configuration that would provide you with adequate contour on top, as well as plenty of support below. I will await your reply. Feel free to call our office as well if you prefer to speak by phone. Thank you kindly, we look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you kindly for your response. I’m around 400lb and 6’3", my wife is 6’1" and around 300lb. I’m a side sleeper, she is “all over”, but mostly on the back. We’re thinking about getting split-king adjustable bed and w twin xl mattresses.

Hello Ben

Thank you for providing your information. Based on your stats, I would recommend our 13" model. This model includes four 3" layers of latex, encased in a cotton and wool zipper cover.
As a side sleeper at 400lbs we would recommend a Firm (37-38ILD Talalay) over XFirm (44ILD Dunlop) over XFirm (44ILD Dunlop) over XFirm (44ILD Dunlop). At 400lbs the firm Talalay top layer will provide the contour you will need as a side sleeper, while the extra firms below offers the support you will need. If you prefer a softer mattress, I would recommend the top two layers be Talalay (one firm and one x-firm). Talalay is a bit softer and slightly more contouring compared to that of Dunlop and therefore will create a slightly softer feel as opposed to only one Talalay layer.
For your wife we would recommend Medium (Talalay) over Firm (Dunlop) over X-Firm Dunlop over X-Firm Dunlop. At 300lbs the medium Talalay will offer similar contour for her that a firm layer will for you at your weight. The firm over two extra firm Dunlop layers below provides the support she will need. Again, if she prefers a plusher feel on her mattress, she can order the top two layers as Talalay.
We offer a 90-day comfort exchange guarantee for our layered mattresses. This means that you can exchange comfort layers, one at a time for each mattress, as many times as needed to change the feel of your mattress. Your only cost for said exchanges are the shipping fees. The first exchange is a flat-rate ship fee of $30, and every exchange thereafter if need be is cost of shipping (depending on where you are located in the country, average ship rates are $25 to $50 each way).
I hope this info helps. Please let us know if you have more questions. Again, please do not hesitate to call our office as well. We are open 7 days a week, 10am to 6pm MST. Thanks again!
