I have an older (still in good shape) medium firm Serta mattress. Because it’s always been too hard, I bought a 3" Sleep on Latex mattress topper about 8 years ago, which has helped.
I’ve recently developed some painful conditions like Piriformis Syndrome that cause pain in the sciatic nerve from pressure and other conditions like osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease. Lately, I wake up multiple times a night in pain.
Desperate, I decided to sleep with an 2.75" Blue Wave Certipur 3.25 pound gel-infused Memory Foam Pillow under my hips, and surprisingly I slept through the night with no pain. Never did I feel “trapped”, just gently cushioned and cradled.
I love the “sink in” feeling it provided that the Dunlop latex topper just doesn’t. I considered getting a Talalay topper a while back, but now after this “experiment” I feel memory foam is what i really need.
I’m thinking that perhaps getting the same density memory foam topper either to put on top of the 3" latex topper, or to replace it, might be what I need while I save for a new mattress. The density and build of this pillow (it’s advertised as medium-firm memory foam, with temperature neutral gel infusion, and ventilated (it has holes) to allow optimal airflow, with a soft bamboo cover).
Can anyone provide me with sources that might have something similar in a mattress topper? This pillow had literally no off-gassing, so definitely want good quality Certi-Pur foam. Unfortunately, the company I got the pillow from does not make mattress toppers.
Should I look for a similar density - 3.25 pound, gel infused, and height (@ 2.75 - 3")?
I am small - 5’3" and @ 112 lbs, so things that are somewhat firm to other people feel VERY firm to me. I am also a 90% side sleeper with a small bit of back sleeping.
