Need help with final choice of layering

I’ve definitely settled on a Sleepez natural queen but i’ve now been stuck for a couple of days on how I should go about layering. There are no opportunities locally for me to check out a latex mattress in person, so I’m going in blind with this forum to lead me.

I’m 5’0 around 110lbs. I tend to start on my side but always seem to end up on my back. I can suffer from lower back pain and tightness from working with young children, which means a lot of bending over and not always lifting with the knees. I think the problem gets worsened by my mattress. I used to have hip pressure points from my lumpy, hand me down, pillow top mattress and put a 3inch memory foam topper on it. That helped for MAYBE a year, when the foam started to get too soft and sinky and now back pain is the main complaint.

Sleepez site recommended me to go S/M/F. I’m good with that but I worry with my light weight if it will be soft enough. I know I want support for my back and it’s going to be a difference from my sandpit memory foam, but I also don’t want to create pressure points again. I just want to make sure S/M/F is my best bet.

Contact SleepEZ by phone. It’s great to speak to a real person and they are super nice in person/on the phone. When I called them about my choice between a ROMA and their Kiss Mattress, they were super helpful to me without swaying me one way or the other. But I know they will help you with choosing layers because anyone you speak to on the phone probably has the same mattress.

That’s what I ended up doing. I always feel like I forget things whenever I call customer service type places so I was trying to get in touch over email BUT I talked to Sterling and he was super easy to talk to. Went with the S/M/F and it should be here next week!

Sterling helped me as well and I called him back after I got it set up to give them a laugh about how long it took me to drag that dead body of a mattress through my condo by myself. The good thing, for you, as Sterling told me, is that SleepEZ mattresses come in pieces. Each one is heavy, but not as bad as my Roma! i’m sure you’ll have an easier time getting your mattress to it’s new home.

Oh, and let me give you a warning about those pillows. Have you ever slept on a shredded pillow before? If not, have a plastic bag nearby after the first night. You’ll want to adjust those pillows by removing some of the filling until they are just right. I removed quite a bit and have stored away a few, small bags. As they settle, you can always add some back. But you will want to remove some filling because they are overstuffed.

Enjoy your new mattress. Do come back here and give us an update after you slept on it for a few weeks.

Well thank you so much for the order and thanks for the kind words as well! I’ll be sure to pass them along to Sterling. I’m sure you’re going to love the mattress, but if you need to make any changes please call us. We use our 44 years of experience to make sure our customers get their mattresses just right, so if there’s anything else we can do for you please just let us know.

Gallon size ziplock bags work great to hold pillow stuffing. Squeeze out the air and zip it closed. Good for a long time.

Thanks for the tip! I also have couch pillows that have been losing their feathers and deflating. I wonder if extra shredded latex would work there.

So update on the bed after a few days of sleep! It’s awesome. At first my back was aching a little when I laid down, but like aching in a good, supported way. Previously I had been sinking down into 3 inches of memory foam. Now I wake up without feeling like my back was squished all night and was slowly and painfully unfurling as I stood up in the morning. I was afraid it might be too firm as I’m lightweight, but I’ve gotten used to the difference and sleep very well.

I also really like the pillows, I think they have just the amount of stuffing but I’m usually a two pillow person anyway. It took less than a week to get to me and is HEAVY but very easy to put together. I’m very happy with it!

Nice to hear m8. I’m so happy your bed has worked out. Yes, a latex mattrress ia very different from memory foam, as you have surmised. You don’t sink and this is a great feeling! Of course, the benefit of a mattress from sleepez is that they layers are interchangeable. Don’t like the top one, swap it for the middle one. If your bed is too hard, you can always call SleepEz back and order a new layer. They are great people to deal with. Anyway, I’m really glad to see that you are happy. I only have great things to say about this company and my mattress.
