Needing sound advice/edcuation for new bed (health issues)

5’9" @ 240lbs fibromyalgia, bad osteoporosis (equivalent to 85 to 90 years old), sleep hot/night sweats, side sleep. I don’t know if my fibromyalgia or osteoporosis has any bearing when it comes down to type of beds I should be focusing on or not.

5’9" @ 240+lbs, sleeps cool to warm, prefer side sleep but also sleeps on back, lower back pain and hip pain

Thinking a hybrid is the route to go but not positive, also not sure if memory foam is better vs latex due to my issues.

Adjustable base for head, feet, tv

Did some kind of test at Ashley furniture that recommended medium firmness for both of us due to pressure point markers. Also don’t really know just how knowledgeable employees of the standard big box stores are.

What are some recommendations for trusted companies here and which beds would fit our needs the best?

I believe there isn’t anybody in the Kingsport, Tn, Bristol, Tn, Johnson City, Tn area as far as trusted TMU dealers if Im not mistaken. Does anybody know of any store recommendations in our area for good quality beds that one might suggest to me so we might be able to test?

Thank you for your time in considering my post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Klillie It sounds like you and your partner are looking for a mattress that can provide both comfort and support, especially given your fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and back and hip pain. You’re also interested in temperature regulation and the possibility of a hybrid mattress with an adjustable base.

As a chiropractor and mattress designer for over 20 years, I understand the importance of finding a mattress that properly supports your spine and helps alleviate pain, while also offering comfort and the features you need, especially since my wife has had Fibromyalgia for many years and it took quite a bit of time before I figured out the right solutions to help her get out of that daily painful cycle that was so debilitating.

While I can’t provide specific medical advice, I can offer some insights and recommendations based on my expertise. First, know that both my Tempflow and Back Science mattresses are designed with these exact needs in mind.

Tempflow uses high-density memory foam for pressure relief and contouring support, along with a patented Airflow Transfer System for enhanced breathability. This could be a good option if you prefer that classic memory foam feel and want a mattress that sleeps cool.

Back Science, on the other hand, is a hybrid mattress that uses a combination of individually wrapped coils and Hypergel-infused foam. This provides strong support, targeted lumbar support, and a cooler sleep surface. It could be a great choice if you want a more supportive feel and prefer a hybrid design.

Both brands offer adjustable bases that can be beneficial for those with back or hip pain, and they both have trial periods so you can try them risk-free in your own home.

Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with trusted TMU dealers in the Kingsport, TN area. However, I encourage you to check out both Tempflow (www.tempflow.com) and Back Science (www.backscience.com) online. You can also take our mattress quiz on the Back Science website or give us a call to speak with a sleep expert who can help you find the perfect mattress for your needs.

I hope this helps! Feel free to write back if you have any other questions.

Thanks!
