Just thought I’d chime in with a few bits of info and some gratitude towards Phoenix and this site.
Since my wife and I sold our Tempurpedic, (which we were not huge fans of) in an estate sale previously, and because the floor in our new house is not very comfortable, we have been aggressively shopping for mattresses. As there is only only one local big box store in our area, we nearly bought one of the “S” brand innersprings. We looked at the Serta iseries, Simmons BR line, and a few lesser-known brands such as the Concrodia Euphoria line. We had sworn off memory foam, and I had never heard of latex mattresses until coming across “Sleeplikethedead”. After a brief peruse through the site, I started searching online and was lead to MUG.com.
Obviously this site has an amazing wealth of information, and I waded deep into the forum in search of finding a value 100% latex option. Soon, terms like Talalay, Dunlop, organic, petro-chemical, etc. flooded my waking conscious, and I was beginning to set into “paralysis by analysis”. After re-reading the “Choosing your Mattress” thread and focusing on what true value really means for me, I started to narrow down the search to a handful of companies who were primarily internet based. As I’m over 2 hours away from the closest showroom with 100% latex mattresses, I needed a company who has a solid exchange and return policy, and that wouldn’t require my first-born’s soul as payment. In the end, after the numerous positive reviews on this site, and 4 separate conversations with Sean (Shawn?) from Sleep EZ, I decided on a Sleep EZ 10000, King size.
Specs:
Wife: 5’6" - 125 lbs, 33, Blonde, Blue Eyes, Scandinavian appearance. Awkward big toe after a child-hood accident. Bad taste in men.
Me: 5’8" - 155 lbs, 33 and balding, tired eyes, unhealthy penchant for Proscuitto and mac n’ cheese. Weak bladder and morning breath. Good taste in women.
Bed:
Sleep EZ 10000- King (a first for us), Blended Talalay for all 3 split layers. S-S, M-M, F-F. Although the layers are the same make up, we wanted to have the option to try different combos in the initial month or two of ownership.
Also, we chose two King pillows, shredded latex, as our no-charge add-on.
Mattress should get here Friday-Monday, and I’ll check back in with an initial review. As a side note, this site is awesome, Sean at Sleep EZ was fantastic to work with over the phone, and I’m happy with what our cost was.
