Hello! My husband and I are looking for a new King Mattress.
I’m 5’5" 150lbs and he’s 6’6" and not sure of his weight but probably quite a bit over 250. We are both primarily side sleepers but I will sometimes sleep on my stomach.
We have found mattresses that have served us pretty well in the past. The two we have liked so far - Stearns & Foster Estate (I believe) bought about a decade ago, the firmness I am not sure of but as we tried beds out in the store we felt more drawn towards firmer mattresses and this one was by far the most comfortable in the firmer range. We have since moved and left that beloved mattress with our in-laws so that we have a good bed to sleep in when we go visit, an now are on our guest bed which is a Dreamcloud (bought about 5 years ago) and I cannot really find a firmness rating on it, but it’s probably a bit smushier than my husband would like, for me it’s in the strike zone but maybe a tad soft at times.
Now we are looking to upgrade to a king since we have a dog that “shares” our bed.
We mostly agree on preferences - we do NOT like the feel of full memory foam mattresses. Tempurpedic and Caspers have been my least favorite beds to sleep on. We both do like the feel of springs and I think that’s why the Dreamcloud is fine for us. I think we also prefer the feel of sleeping on top of the mattress rather than in it.
So I’m wondering if the hybrid mattress from APM would serve us well? The Dreamcloud we have now is a hybrid, albeit not latex. In fact, we have never slept on a latex bed. I was also looking at the Sleep EZ hybrid, but noticed there was a weight limit there and not sure if that means all spring bases are not idea for somebody over 250lbs.
Any guidance would be much appreciated!
