PLEASE HELP: Really need a new mattress!!! WANTED: A "Green" Mattress

Hi,

I’ve been on the hunt for a “green” mattress since December of last year. I have tried two Essentia mattresses so far. The first was the Dormeuse Fior and then was the Energie Opus. Both did not work out because they were a bit on the soft side. I want a soft mattress because I am a dedicated side sleeper and my husband is also but tends to change positions throughout the night.

For side sleeping, I want a soft top but also want that support underneath and felt that the two mattresses from Essentia kind of lacked that. The mattresses almost felt a bit “sloppy”. When sitting up from a laying position, the edges of the bed almost seemed to cave in a bit.

Organic Mattresses - Beyond Latex Foam by Essentia (check out the Dormeuse Fior and Energie Opus)

Previous to my journey for an eco-mattress, I’ve always slept on a conventional inner spring pillow top mattress. It was always very comfortable, especially with the soft pillowtop. You get that “ahhhhh” feeling as you lie down but then have good support. For so many reasons and after educating myself on the countless toxins in conventional mattresses, I wanted to convert and couldn’t wait. Little did I know what a tedious and painful process it would turn into…I haven’t slept well since December of last year :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

So, I am on the hunt for something else since Essentia didn’t work out. I want to stay away from an inner spring so that leaves either a memory foam or latex mattress. Two others I am looking at are:

Do anyone have any input on these beds or have input/experience with other eco-mattresses ???

Please help because I would love to start sleeping again!!!

Thank you!!!

Not all mattress manufacturers put in an edge support. One of the great ones, Vi-Spring, for example, does not from my understanding, They want whatever support and comfort levels they have established for you to extend to the edges. A separate stiff edge would potentially counter that.

Hi AnalogJ,

They use side stitching (which is a very time consuming hand building method that takes years to learn how to do well) to help maintain the firmness of the sleeping surface right to the edge so they actually do have a type of edge support.
