After looking through the forum, it seems sleepez is highly recommended.
I’ve checked out the webpage, did the matress configuration for my size
Which is 5’2 115, I’m very flat built more like boy if that helps.
I recommends a soft top blended , medium and firm dunlops for a 9in queen( btw I’m not sure what inch is best either)
I get middle back aches on my box spring which is no longer good I think.
I’m used to a firmer matress, which I have from original matress as i live in Cleveland,
I try to sleep on my back, bc I have nerve issues in my neck and arms I am rehabbing currently which causes some pains in my hands and arms.
Out of convience to me, I’m considering the original matress serenity latex, which is more expensive. I laid on it, and it feels firm at least, I was wondering how your soft layer compares and if maybe I should go with a medium topper? I see something about people arranging layers? Is this some type of zipper bed ?
I see shipping is free and an exchange policy. I like to support local but I don’t have many options at omc for a latex.
Our 9" and 10" mattresses are made up of three layers of latex, encased in a cotton and wool zipper cover. You have the ability to customize your mattress, as well as unzip your cover and rearrange your firmnesses within, to change the feel of your sleep surface in the comfort of your own home. Furthermore, we offer a 90-day comfort exchange guarantee, which allows you to exchange your comfort layers if need be, and we simply charge shipping cost for said exchanges. Your first layer exchange is a flat-rate ship fee of $30, and every exchange thereafter is cost of shipping ($30 to $80 on average). We help guide you to a layer configuration based on your weight, height and preferred sleep positions. Using this info, we will set you up with a configuration that provides you with both contour and support.
I took a look at the Serenity mattress from Original Mattress, and although they are not clear as to what density they use for their top layer, it looks as though they use a Softer Talalay layer. You can indeed order a soft Talalay layer for your top contour layer in both our 9" or 10" models. However, due to not knowing what OM’s soft Talalay densities are, I cannot promise that they will feel the same.
I hope this information helps. Please feel free to ask more questions, and keep us posted! Thanks again, and good luck!
Would the soft talay layer your referring to be your “soft” option?
The OM felt like a firm matress just laying on it in the store. But those types of mattresses are hard to judge on a few minutes, but it definitely did not have a medium box spring feel or pillow top.
Yes, that would be our “soft,” and you are absolutely correct - even if you lay on a mattress for hours in a showroom, you still won’t know if it’s right for you until you actually sleep on it and allow your body time to adjust. Please keep the following in mind: Our initial recommendations have a 90% success rate (we only have a 10% layer exchange rate) so there’s a 90% chance that our recommendation works perfectly for you. Further, if you try that set up and find that it’s too firm or too soft, you can unzip the cover and rearrange the layers or request a layer exchange to adjust accordingly and get the mattress fine-tuned for your specific preferences & needs. As such, the best thing you can do is pick the setup that has the best chance to be successful for you and adjust from there (if needed).
Latex mattresses normally last 20 years, and some customers have had their latex mattress for 30 or even 40 years. Latex rarely takes a body impression so this really is not something you should expect to encounter. We ship 20-30 mattresses per day and we’ve been in business for 42 years, and we still only get a dozen or so warranty checks / requests per year, so it really is quite rare. Nonetheless, our mattresses have a 20 year warranty and if you encounter any problems over the next 20 years, please call us and we will do whatever we can to get it taken care of for you.
