Recommendations on Luxerion Mattress Layer Firmnesses Please

Hello,

New here, and I have some questions. After extensive research, I am looking at purchasing a Luxerion Latex mattress very soon. I was initially going to call with my questions, but I think it will be easier to be clear and concise with my questions in this format, and hopefully in getting accurate answers from LMF. @Latex_Mattress_Fact1

First, about me and my wife:

Generally we both prefer a firmer mattress, but it also needs to be supportive enough. We are currently sleeping on an almost 14 year-old, firm TempurPedic mattress (“Rhapsody” was the model, 11.5" thick). This mattress seems to contour to the body for the top 2" or so, but is much firmer below that. It was generally a good mattress, but has lost firmness over the years, and the top foam layer is now literally tearing apart in several places. They will not do anything under the 10/10 warranty, even after extensive fighting with them. Bye bye! I think Latex will work better for us anyway.

Me
6’2", 250#
Broad shoulders and deep chest
Lower back pain at times due to old injury (bulging disk causing sciatica)
Mostly (~80-90%) side-sleeper, but I lay on my back sometimes, especially when my back is hurting worse

Wife
5’10", 150#
Wider hips
Almost 100% exclusively side-sleeper

Based on my research, I am pretty sure I would like to either upgrade the top layer to Talalay, or purchase a 2" topper. Do customizations on the layers for the Luxerion delete the warranty? Or is there no warranty on just the full DIY builds?

I am guessing you would initially recommend a medium firmness (M/M/F)? If so, would you recommend a 2" Talalay topper, or would upgrading the top layer to Talalay be sufficient? Would slightly firmer be better (M/F/F)?

I also suspect you might suggest splitting the layers due to our weight differences. However, I am extremely hesitant to do that, especially with the top layer, as I fear we would be able to feel that spot in the bed (we can certainly feel the spots where the memory foam is tearing on our current mattress). If you suggest spitting for different firmness layers for the two of us, would it be possible to have the same top layer for both of us that is not split?

I think that is most of it for now. Thank you in advance for the assistance!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your inquiries!

Based on the information you’ve provided, I believe the Luxerion mattress with a Talalay comfort layer on top would be an excellent choice for you. While Talalay is not included as a standard option for the Luxerion model, you can request it as a custom feature. There is an upcharge of $200 for a queen-size Talalay layer and $250 for a king size. Talalay is a more open-celled foam compared to Dunlop, offering a softer feel that enhances contouring and pressure relief. Its open-cell structure also improves breathability, creating a cooler sleep surface…

Customization Options

To maximize comfort, I recommend splitting the layers down the middle, allowing each side to be customized individually. This option is not available directly on our website but can be requested in the ‘customer notes’ section at checkout. Since we call all online customers before shipping, we will confirm these details with you over the phone. Alternatively, you can call us directly to place your order and specify the Talalay layer and split configuration. Note that adding a Talalay comfort layer requires placing your order by phone, as this option is not available online.

Recommended Configurations

  • For Your Side (250 lbs, side/back sleeper):
Medium Talalay over Firm Dunlop over Extra Firm Dunlop (M/F/XF).
This setup provides the contour and pressure relief needed from the 3" Medium Talalay layer, while the Firm and Extra Firm Dunlop layers beneath offer gradual and sturdy support.
  • For Her Side (150 lbs):
Soft Talalay over Medium Dunlop over Firm Dunlop (S/M/F).
The 3" Soft Talalay layer offers excellent contouring and pressure relief at her weight, while the Medium and Firm Dunlop layers below provide balanced support.

Additional Benefits

Split layers allow each side to be adjusted independently, ensuring you can modify your mattress’s feel without impacting your partner.

This model also includes a 90-day, one-time comfort exchange policy, enabling you to exchange one layer (or two split layers) within the first 90 days for a flat $45 shipping fee.

Should you have any further questions or wish to place your order, feel free to reach out anytime at 1-800-637-8731. We’re happy to assist!

Thank you again, and we look forward to helping you create your perfect mattress.

Best regards,
Jeremy

Jeremy,

Thank you for your reply! I will definitely be calling to place my order due to these customizations.

Do these customizations forfeit anything like the 10-year warranty or the $100 100-night trial? Those are other BIG questions in my mind.

I will try calling tomorrow if you guys are open, Monday otherwise.

Thanks again! -Jared.
