Hello,
New here, and I have some questions. After extensive research, I am looking at purchasing a Luxerion Latex mattress very soon. I was initially going to call with my questions, but I think it will be easier to be clear and concise with my questions in this format, and hopefully in getting accurate answers from LMF. @Latex_Mattress_Fact1
First, about me and my wife:
Generally we both prefer a firmer mattress, but it also needs to be supportive enough. We are currently sleeping on an almost 14 year-old, firm TempurPedic mattress (âRhapsodyâ was the model, 11.5" thick). This mattress seems to contour to the body for the top 2" or so, but is much firmer below that. It was generally a good mattress, but has lost firmness over the years, and the top foam layer is now literally tearing apart in several places. They will not do anything under the 10/10 warranty, even after extensive fighting with them. Bye bye! I think Latex will work better for us anyway.
Me
6â2", 250#
Broad shoulders and deep chest
Lower back pain at times due to old injury (bulging disk causing sciatica)
Mostly (~80-90%) side-sleeper, but I lay on my back sometimes, especially when my back is hurting worse
Wife
5â10", 150#
Wider hips
Almost 100% exclusively side-sleeper
Based on my research, I am pretty sure I would like to either upgrade the top layer to Talalay, or purchase a 2" topper. Do customizations on the layers for the Luxerion delete the warranty? Or is there no warranty on just the full DIY builds?
I am guessing you would initially recommend a medium firmness (M/M/F)? If so, would you recommend a 2" Talalay topper, or would upgrading the top layer to Talalay be sufficient? Would slightly firmer be better (M/F/F)?
I also suspect you might suggest splitting the layers due to our weight differences. However, I am extremely hesitant to do that, especially with the top layer, as I fear we would be able to feel that spot in the bed (we can certainly feel the spots where the memory foam is tearing on our current mattress). If you suggest spitting for different firmness layers for the two of us, would it be possible to have the same top layer for both of us that is not split?
I think that is most of it for now. Thank you in advance for the assistance!
