I’m continuing my DIY quest. My original plan was to go with the often recommended 3"-3"-3" hard-medium-soft latex layers. However, as a long-time latex sleeper, I’m a little concerned about the top layer “melting” as it softens with body temperature over the course of the night; that has caused me some problems in the past. So my new idea is to change the top layer to Serene foam. I.e., use the same bottom latex base layers, but top it with Serene foam instead of Talalay. My question to the experts is this: do you think 3" of Serene foam will provide comparable cushioning to 3" of soft Talalay, or should I go an inch less or an inch more?
As far as I can tell, the durability of Serene foam seems to be similar to soft Talalay.
Me: 6’2, 175 lbs, side sleeper with pressure issues.
Nothing beats Talalay for the top layer. Melting is a term I have never heard in conjunction with any latex. Talalay is open cell foam and breaths better than any other foam and I should know being in Phoenix. A 3-3-3 Firm, Medium, Soft all Talalay would be the best choice in my opinion
