I’ve tried searching, but I dont see a lot of stomach only sleepers on here. I’m looking for a build or recommendation for me. I’m 5 ft 10, 170 pounds, 15%BMI. I’ve tested out several at the stores in tx. I like the tempur-flex prima(except the price), and others more on the firm side with a softer cooler top layer. Looking for a king with an adjustable massage base.
Hello Raid1365
Thank you kindly for your inquiry! Stomach sleepers tend to need a much firmer sleep surface than most. For example, at your size and weight, if you were primarily a side sleeper, then I would suggest a softer/plusher top to accommodate the contour you would need at your shoulders and hips. However, as a stomach sleeper, your body weight is at its most evenly-distributed position while sleeping, and therefore will require more supportive surface. If you are on a surface that is too soft, as a stomach sleeper your back would bow in to the mattress, causing eventual back pain.
If you were to choose a latex mattress, I would recommend a model like the Roma:https://www.sleepez.com/collections/latex-mattresses/products/roma-latex-mattress. The Roma is a two-sided mattress, with one side being a medium-plush feel, and the other side a firmer feel. Both sides have a 1.5" soft Certipur foam quilted into the cover for a bit of contour. The core of the mattress is a 6" Dunlop latex core that consists of a 3" 30ILD (medium) layer seamed to a 3" 37ILD (firm) layer. This gives you two options that can support your stomach sleeping, while still providing a bit of contour on top.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks again, and good luck!
