Suite Portfolio Mattress vs Naturepedic EOS Organic Pillow Top Mattress?

Short question: Suite Sleep Suite Portfolio Mattress vs Naturepedic EOS Organic Pillow Top Mattress. I realize one is full latex and one is a hybrid. But if you were between the 2 which way did you go and why.

Longer backstory: I had always been just given a mattress to sleep on so when my mattress started creaking I went to tons of mattress stores to pick out my 1st mattress of my choice. After liking the same one in like a dozen stores I bought it but a week later hated it and it was non-returnable. Met my husband and we just used his mattress. After moving last year we decided to upgrade to a King size mattress based on my store experience of liking the same one in the store but not liking it at home, so I went the online route. After 5 tries we are now back to the in person route. I had been looking at Naturepedic online before but due to prices and striking out online I did not want to buy without trying. I saw there was a place not too far from my parents house that carried them so on a visit we got an appointment to try them out. While we were there we figured we would test out other beds and really liked the Suite Sleep Suite Portfolio and the Naturepedic EOS Organic Pillow Top. I see a lot online about Naturepedic but not much about Suite Sleep. Wondering what people knew about them and if they were between both which one they went with and why. We were hoping to visit the store again but last time I visited my parents (which is 4 hours from us so not super close) my dad had a medical emergency so we did not make it back to the store.

We work with both vendors and I would trust either of them in terms of their materals. Both the Suite Sleep Portfolio Mattress and the Naturepedic EOS Pillowtop Mattress offer high-quality, organic materials and customization options, making them ideal for eco-conscious consumers looking for tailored comfort.

The Suite Sleep Portfolio Mattress is best for those who prioritize a simpler customization process. At the same time, the Naturepedic EOS Pillowtop Mattress offers additional benefits like superior motion isolation (due to pocketed coils and the split layers) and extensive customization (customization by side), making it a strong choice for couples and those who value certified organic standards.

However, both may require extra effort in setup (latex is heavy) - but if you have two people doing the setup, it works pretty well.

With the EOS Pillowtop, you can swap out layers during the first 100 days after purchase and only pay shipping, which may be an attractive option for you since you have already had one experience of feeling like the mattress wasn’t right once you slept on it at home. Swapping layers is a simple process that you do right on the Naturepedic site (we have helped several of our own customers with this).

The EOS has a higher profile than the Portfolio (15" as opposed to 12"). So, the EOS has a higher price point than the Portfolio, but be sure to factor in shipping when you do the pricing as well.

We have worked with both companies for decades, and they are both excellent companies that are committed to quality organic products that serve the needs of their customers.

I hope this helps a little. Give us a call if we can help in some way.

Choosing between the Suite Sleep Suite Portfolio Mattress and the Naturepedic EOS Organic Pillow Top Mattress depends on your specific preferences and needs.

The Suite Sleep Suite Portfolio Mattress is made entirely of latex, which is known for its responsiveness and durability. This type of mattress provides uniform support and excellent pressure relief, making it a great choice for spinal alignment and overall comfort. Additionally, latex tends to be cooler and allows for good airflow, which can help with temperature regulation. If longevity and a natural resistance to allergens like dust mites and mold are important to you, the Suite Sleep might be the better option.

On the other hand, the Naturepedic EOS Organic Pillow Top Mattress is a hybrid model that combines coils with layers of latex and organic cotton. This combination offers a balanced feel, with the coils providing targeted support and bounce, while the pillow top adds extra softness and cushioning. Hybrids generally offer good airflow due to the coil system, and the organic materials used can enhance comfort and temperature control. Moreover, Naturepedic often provides more customization options, allowing you to adjust the firmness and other features to your liking.

If you lean towards a pure latex experience and value its durability, the Suite Sleep would be a solid choice. However, if you prefer the adaptability and added comfort of a hybrid with a pillow top, along with the benefits of customization and organic materials, the Naturepedic EOS could be more suitable. Both mattresses offer good temperature regulation, but the hybrid may have a slight edge due to its design. Ultimately, the decision comes down to whether you favor the consistent feel of all-latex or the versatile, customizable nature of a hybrid mattress.

Clearly you are not hesitant to order online, which I think is a big advantage. My view of testing in the store is one that consists of eliminating what is immediately too soft. Firmer mattresses can soften up over time, usually front loaded, so the softening occurs in the first few months then tapers off.

I am not sure only waiting a week is a fair evaluation of a mattress, but once you get it in your mind that you dont like something, it is hard to image a few more weeks will make a difference, although, adjustment periods should yield to at least a month.

Your choice can partly depend on each of your height, weight and sleep position profiles.

I see that @TheCleanBedroom has responded, but I will post my response too, as it seems to follow their analysis of the two choices.

They are true experts regarding these two choices.

Best of luck on your decision,

Thanks for your reply. You mention both take extra set up but is one easier than the other? My husband is active duty military and we move a lot (every 2-3 years). I am fine with extra set up for comfort but just curious if one would be easier to move.

Thanks for your reply you mention sleep position and weight play a factor. Before having my twins I was around 150lbs and I am working to get back there but not sure that will happen any time soon so currently around 170-175lbs and 5’7". Side sleeper I do switch side but very much a side sleeper. My husband will says he is 180lbs but I think its closer to 190lbs these days and is 6’1". He is also a side sleeper but moves to other positions occasionally sometimes his back or stomach but primarily is a side sleeper.

As for the week, for that bed I actually flipped it on the nonsleeper side put a 1 inch latex topper on it and slept like that until I moved in with my husband probably about 3 years. The 5 we have tried since September of 2023 all were slept on for at least 30 days some more and I’ve basically been dealing with back pain since the start of this process. Before that I did not have any back issues so I know its related to the mattress since that is all that had change which why we have shifted our approach a little by testing in store.

Hi again,

For the setup - it depends on what you think of as easy. For me, I would prefer to move more pieces that are smaller than to move three big pieces. If you are like me, then the EOS would be easier to move, as you would have 2 6" springs and 4 3" pieces of latex to move and to setup. This also gives you more customizability.
If you prefer moving big pieces, but fewer of them, then the portfolio would be easier, as you would just have the 6" latex, 3" latex and 2" latex to move. If you split the two lower layers, they would be easier to move and you could customize them by side. Like the EOS, you would have a 6" bottom layer (or two layers if you split them).

I have not moved either of these beds, but have moved other latex mattresses. It depends on whether you feel like it would be easier to move coils or move latex.

Question for you: When you had your old mattress on the non-sleeping side, with a topper, did you have back pain? And was that a firm feel?

I had backpain on the sleeper side which is why I flipped it and with the topper that seemed to make it sleepable, don’t recall having back pain after making that adjustment. The mattress was a hybrid and considered plush if I remember correctly, it was 7ish years ago now. I would not say it was a firm feel, my parents have firm beds and I use to avoid sleeping over because I did not like how firm they were, just did daytrips before we moved and that was no longer an option for visit.

We have 0 idea of what we were most recently sleeping on before our bed journey, my husbands mom sent him a mattress after he graduated from officer candidate schools she can’t remember what it was and based on the year he graduated we tried a Casper (neither of us liked it, but he didn’t have any pain from only I did) based on the year he graduated and what bed in a box option were available in that year hoping it might be what his mom sent him, but it for sure what not what we had. The 5 we tried over the last year were Awara (based on our own research), WinkBed Soft (based on a mattress quiz online), Wink Bed EcoCloud hybrid (based on the exchange policy, only bed my husband absolutely hated, probably the bed I liked the most but I do not recall being 100% pain free and could not take his whining over it), Casper Original (since we thought it might be what we had), Saatva Original Soft (because we tired hybrids and all foam so why not try all coil, but it was the worst bed in terms of pain not only did I get back pain but pain in multiple other body parts). So technically we have not tired all latex, just latex hybrids but we are no opposed just trying to find the right bed for us. The split option seem like it might be a good idea, although he claims he can sleep on anything he did hate 1 of the 5 we tried and did care for another.
