We recently purchased a customized organic latex mattress after returning our Purple mattress. My husband liked the firmness of the Purple but it was way too firm for me. I woke up in pain every morning. I’m 120 lbs and a side/back sleeper and my husband is 180 lbs and mostly a stomach sleeper. He likes firmer I like softer, which is why we went with the customized sleep ez.
We’ve had it for about a month now. I enjoy my side of the bed, it’s comfortable and I have no complaints. My husband, though, is not loving it. He can’t pinpoint if it’s too firm or too soft for him…he just says it’s not comfortable. He’s not having pain, but he says he tosses and turns all night and just can’t get comfortable. Here is what our configuration is:
10 inch.
My side: From bottom to top- Medium Dunlop, Soft Dunlop, Soft Talalay with a 2in soft Talalay topper
husbands side: From bottom to top-Firm Dunlop, Medium Dunlop, Medium Talalay with a 2in Medium Talalay topper.
So, he needs a configuration that is supportive of his stomach sleeping but comfortable. I’m good with mine, I wouldn’t change a thing
Hello Beckyhart05 and thanks for reaching out! If he’s not sure what the comfort issue is, my best advice would be to unzip the cover and move the firm layer to the middle. If he tries this and things get better, you know he’s moving in the right direction. If things get worse, he’d probably want to consider making the mattress softer. However, since he’s a stomach sleeper I think he’ll find the mattress gets better with the firm layer in the middle. If he tries that and things are better but still leaves something to be desired, then he may want to order another firm or extra firm layer for exchange to try medium/firm/firm for medium/firm/extra firm. Aside from that, he might end up liking a firm layer on top, but I normally don’t recommend that as one of the first changes, the idea being that you want to retain all the contour and pressure relief he’s getting from the top Talalay layer while providing more support for his back and a firmer feel.
Thank you SleepEZ! We tried that suggestion above and after only 1 night he said it was better but still “off”. So, we moved the firm layer to the top…which isn’t really the top because we still have the SleepEZ topper on top of the mattress. His side is a Medium Talalay. He slept on it like that last night and woke up this morning saying it was better. He didn’t toss and turn as much. It appears he really prefers it firm! I will probably end up switching out his previous top layer (medium talalay) for another firm because right now that layer is on the very bottom and I worry about it breaking down under all those other layers. But, we’re going to give it several more nights to be sure.
Thank you for the help!
OK great, that’s excellent news! Just let us know what you need for the layer exchange and we’ll get it taken care of!
