Topper for new DIY latex build

Link to previous post above. 5’1’, 133 lbs, late 60’s, solo sleeper. That decision was made (thank you for the feedback). My new build is adjustable base (DMF by Ergomotion), 3" firm Dunlop, 3" medium Dunlop, 2" soft Dunlop in 8" case (all components from LMF). I’ve only slept on it for three nights so far, but I think I got the support right, as I no longer have mid-back pain that I get from a too-soft mattress (or a pillow-back recliner). The previous topper that is now the “comfort layer” within the mattress sleeps firmer than it did as a topper. I’m sure it’s partially because of the base it is on, and as was explained to me, there is also a “drum effect” when enclosed in a cover with other layers. With a myriad of musculoskeletal issues, I would like just a tad more pressure relief, though. When I tried 2" soft Talalay on a traditional mattress a couple of years ago, I felt like I “bottomed out” and my shoulder and hip hit the mattress. Completely different setup now, so I’m assuming it would feel firmer on the latex build, similar to the effect it had on the soft Dunlop…? I want to stick with 2" because I already have a cover for it and it would bring the total to a perfect 10". I have no idea what the medium Talalay would feel like instead…? I would appreciate feedback from experts and users. Thanks.

Based on your info I would go with the 2" soft Talalay if primarily a side sleeper and Medium if back or stomach.

Would medium Talalay give any more pressure relief than the soft Dunlop?

Yes, Talalay will mold to the body better than dunlop.

I finally added the 2" medium Talalay topper (separate in its own cover) and it is awesome! It’s like I baked a cake with Jello in it  It’s enough support to keep my back from hurting yet enough pressure relief that heels, hips and shoulder blades are comfortable. Bonus effect - the added thickness (now a total of 10") “softens out the bends” when I have the adjustable base in positions other than flat (I’m just under 5’2" and the bends were a little far apart). Last night I slept a record six hours straight without waking!
