Trying to narrow it down...which of these for heavy + light side sleepers?

I’ve narrowed it down for four mattresses from recommended businesses and could use some input on which might be the best choice for us. I’ve contacted each company to verify that the mattress is suitable for someone of my husband’s weight. This would be a king mattress for my husband (6’0", 265 lbs, lots of low back pain issues) & I (5’8", 125 lbs, neck & shoulder pain issues, very sensitive to pressure points). We’re both side sleepers. He prefers a firm mattress and I prefer a mattress with good support but more cushy to take pressure off my shoulders and the sides of my legs. I think he’d probably prefer a mattress that’s fairly similar in feel to a traditional coil mattress. We’re not near anything (middle of Montana here) so no way to try any of these out or to try out an all-latex mattress. Our current mattress is a Sealy firm no-top coil mattress which has lots of compression issues. I use a cheap 1.5" or 2" memory foam topper with it. I think the Back Science mattress would be my top choice in a perfect world, but it’s the most expensive and I’d probably need to use a mattress topper with it because the split firmness is prohibitively expensive, so I’m leaning toward getting one of the others.

I think you know what we would recommend lol, but I’ll chime in anyway. I recommend the 10" organic for the following reasons:

They’re fully customizable, meaning you can order the mattress to be as soft or as firm as you’d like. They’re also fully adjustable, meaning you can change the softness, firmness, back support, pressure relief, etc. AFTER you get the mattress in your home. If you start with a certain setup and find that it’s too soft, you can unzip the cover and rearrange the layers to get a firmer feel out of the mattress, or you can exchange a layer to make it softer. Additionally, latex mattresses typically last 20 years. If, in 5 or 10 or 15 years you decide you want a softer or firmer mattress you would only have to buy a new layer instead of an entirely new mattress. Lastly, if the mattress starts to break down in 15 – 20 years, it’s normally the top layer that breaks down first, and at that point you can likely just buy a new top layer of latex instead of a whole new mattress and get an additional 8-10 years out of the mattress.

You did a great job at researching all of this, but I do want to clarify one important point. If you do get a Back Science mattress, you do not have to use a topper to increase the plushness on one side, since our GripLock modular cover system allows us to make an internal change inside the mattress to whatever comfort level you need for your side. That said, whether you go with our system or a latex system, you still have the same issue with trying to get the level of comfort modulated correctly for both of you and if that cannot happen, you would still need to either create a difference internally or externally, so all of that is handled at no cost with Back Science either way. I hope that helps and feel free to write back if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Thanks!
