Hi looking4mattress.
Yes! It can be hard to find 1 - 1.5" latex layers. Sometimes, Amazon has them under a brand called “Pure Green” which is a sub-brand of a company that used to be a Trusted Member on our site.
If you have any local mattress manufacturers in your area, sometimes they’re willing/able to provide custom latex cuts.

I’d like to tack a question on.
Can 1" of latex change the feel of a diy mattress? How much of a difference would it make to add in another 1" of 34 ild into the support or the transition layer? Id like my mattress to be just a little taller without changing the comfort level.
Hi Problemone,
Adding 1" of latex to a DIY mattress can indeed change the feel and performance to some extent, depending on where you add it.
Try adding a coir layer to the bottom of the mattress to raise it up. This can serve a dual purpose, raise the mattress up, act as a base layer between you foundation and support layer.
Depending on the entire build of the mattress, adding an inch of coir to the base of the mattress could firm the mattress up a bit.
Adding a layer of latex to the comfort or transition layer, with a similar ILD to what already exists, will subtly alter the mattress’s feel. This adjustment may be preferred if you lean towards a plusher feel rather than a firmer one.
Ultimately, the decision between these methods depends on your desired feel. Your preferences will guide you in choosing the direction that best aligns with how you want the mattress to feel.
Hope this helps,
Maverick
Thank you. I appreciate your advice, and It does indeed help. I am going to do some deep thinking in order to decide what changes I’d like to make. Im almost at the point of bliss. It may be that I’ve actually reached bliss, and I’m just enjoying the process too much to quit.
I have a 1" layer of medium SOL that I’m going to add tonight.
