I would like your opinion of the fact that Nest bedding has changed their Latex Hybrid design from a cotton/wool cover to a cotton cover over a polyfoam. Do you think having the natural wool over the latex is preferable and would consider this change to be more of a cost cutting measure than trying to create a better design? I have read that Latex can be too firm for many sleepers so perhaps the foam is a good thing? However…if its so good how come they offer wool instead in the organic version? I’m not trying to pit manufacturers against each other…only an opinion of a latex hybrid bed without wool in the design.
Thanks.
Hello Bluski
Thank you kindly for your inquiry. I cannot speak on Nest Bedding’s changes to their mattress, and why they made said changes. I can however answer your question about wool making a difference in the quilting of a mattress cover… Wool is great for a couple reasons; the first is that it is a natural fire barrier. This eliminates any chemical fire retardants being added. Secondly wool helps regulate mattress temperature by wicking away moisture as well as being a breathable material. These qualities make wool a great cover for latex in particular because it is an open-celled natural and breathable foam.
