I’ve waited to post about our new bed until we’ve had it awhile. I made the decision to go with mattresses.net because they were the best price overall and I kind of appreciated their no nonsense approach. I’m a bit embarrassed to say that even though I did much research here at mattress underground, my husband and i tried only 2 latex beds here in town and they were both too firm. We tried no other beds. Beyond that, my husband did not participate in this endeavor at all – So to say I was a bit nervous was an understatement. I was ordering a $2,000 item that we were unable to test first. We are starting week 5 sleeping on our new bed.
I knew that we both like a soft bed, so I ended up with 6" soft dunlop on my side and 6" medium dunlop on his side. I choose the thicker 3 inch soft talalay topper which was more expensive than the 2 inch. For reference, i am just under 5’9 130 lbs. And my husband is 6’3 225 lbs. We are in our late 50s. We also needed the foundation and I went with the wood one.
It took almost exactly 4 weeks to receive the bed, which I was told up front. Set up wasn’t that difficult.
I knew there would be an adjustment time for body alignment. Our old bed had major dips in it and we had been sleeping like that for YEARS . I think I am still getting used to it. That said we both really really like it. Do I love it? Not sure. I think of all the things I could of spent 2 grand on… It might be a teeny bit hard for my shoulders, however, I don’t toss and turn nearly as much. In fact, i stay in one position much much longer. I’m sleeping harder and I’m not waking up as much. My husband feels the same. No complaints from him— well maybe the cost.
