Thanks for looking into this, is this from the store?
This is through Naturepedic directly. The manager at our store is leaving so I spoke directly to Naturepedic. But they said if I upgrade to a pillowtop I need to work through the store but they will help me and agreed to the swap of cases/layers if needed. Total with tax was $497 so I’m pretty unhappy but I do understand their point that they will refund if I return a layer. I just wish the whole process had been easier. It has been a long painful slog to try and get a good mattress.
Thank you for the update, I sent a pm to you , did you see it?
No, I didn’t see a private msg. I will hunt around on the web site to see if I can find it.
Found it and just sent you a reply. Curiously I did not see anything in my email indicating that you sent a PM.
Unfortunately email notification of PMs received doesn’t seem to have been implemented in the site’s software. I don’t get them either nor do I see an option to activate them.
Maybe Phoenix can chime in on that…
Thanks Sweet Dreams.
Tom, I did send you a reply. Did you see it?
I did, thank you. I responded.
I placed The order for the pillow top and it should arrive today, I’ll let you know how it is.
What layers did you get?
Medium,firm,firm
Soft,soft,firm
Layers are latex
Congrats on making a decision. I hope you love it! Report back on your impressions.
sweet dreams! did you visit a store and try all the configs? or just go on research and instinct?
Thank you both, research and instinct.
I received the packages today and it came in several boxes. I finally got it together.
I can see what you Mean with the zipper, I had no issues other than it wanting to snag on the latex layer. I was worried if it rubbed on my skin and cut it. I wouldn’t want blood on this monster.
I’ll let you know how my sleep is. If you don’t hear from me in the morning I may be hibernating.
When did you order? I haven’t even gotten a shipping notice for my replacement layer.
You’ll feel different about the danger of the zipper after you have unzipped and rezipped it a dozen times swapping layers. But I too am pleased it is such good quality. I just feel alot better with cotton gloves on my hands with tucking all the layers in while zipping.
Not too long ago, I worked with a store to get it to me quick. I think they received one and sent it over to me.
I just placed a call to them , I never went to the store.
It’s a workout, I couldn’t get the coils to sit properly at the bottom. It took me a while, I swear I wouldn’t want to re open this beast.
I thought about you with the gloves and deuxcv with his fetish. Lol
It’s heavy once it’s together, I think it was you that mentioned about doing the sheets. I’m use to swinging up the mattress with one and hand and doing the sheets. I need a darn jack stand and car jack with this. Lol
I hear ya. We will eventually have to swap the bottom coils and my husband is not looking forward to it. It is trouble enough to swap around the comfort layers. Plus he has had to assemble 4 of them that we haven’t kept then haul them to our office room for donation. So far he has assembled 6 mattresses total and swapped them between our two beds numerous times, moved around the comfort layers too many times to count and we aren’t done yet.
We also have a zippered bed bug cover on each mattress that we have used on all the mattresses so any swapping has to include zipping that off. Initially we had one that zippered at the end like a pocket. We quickly returned that for a model where we could zip the top off on three sides so we could open it to swap the layers.
But I hope you hit the gold mine on the first try!
Thank you, me too!
Your husband is a trooper. I am not sure how you keep track of all the layer swaps and the difference in feels, etc. I would be confused.
Is there a reason you use a bed bug cover?
Yes. We used one on our last mattress also. They are water proof and keep the dust mites out. I had intended to keep our 100% latex mattress forever but it wore out. I’m hoping this one is the last mattress I’ll ever buy so don’t want build up from dust mites, skin cells etc in it.
Other advantages are if you spill something on it the water proof coating protects it. If my dog should have an accident (they are both old but so far very reliable) then no stain.
Also for this bed in the box experience you can only donate a stain free, like new mattress. Every one of our donations has been like new because they went right into the bed bug cover.
This is the one we got.

And of course if we should ever get bed bugs then they won’t get into the expensive mattress. We’ve never had any but you never know…
The cover doesn’t affect temperature control? I would think the breath ability would be less and warmer. It’s a smart idea though, it will always be clean.
I would hate to take that off and the other zippered stuff.
